The Lawyer Who Reined in the Rubber Stampers and Robo-Signers

With a firestorm still raging over revelations that loan-servicing companies used "robo-signers" to churn out affidavits used to foreclose on massive numbers of homes, the origins of the controversy are becoming clearer. The allegations that lenders were using questionable practices began to crystallize after a mostly retired Maine lawyer, Thomas Cox, deposed a GMAC Mortgage employee in June in a foreclosure case for a Portland nonprofit. The Am Law Daily spoke with Cox about the whole robo-signing mess.
